The QUASAR / TKB SYSTEM invites exploration beyond certainty, drawing from the gravitational chaos of black holes—places where structure dissolves and control yields to vast, uncharted motion. Engaging with it means stepping into a process of discovery, where direction is not predetermined but revealed through interaction.

With the addition of the Serge TKB, this journey expands into a dialogue between intuition and emergence. No longer bound by fixed sequencing, the user shapes melody and form from a field of possibility, guided as much by touch as by chance. Streams of random voltage animate the system, turning it into a dynamic, living presence—one that continuously shifts, breathes, and evolves. In this fluid environment, compositions arise organically, unfolding over time rather than being explicitly constructed.

At the core of this balance between unpredictability and control is the Prism Circuits TKB (Touch-Activated Keyboard Sequencer). This 16-stage, four-row control voltage and pulse generator uses capacitive touch to enable immediate, expressive interaction. Each stage delivers independent CV and gate outputs, supporting intricate sequencing, manual addressing, and real-time transposition. Originally developed in the 1970s by Serge Tcherepnin, the TKB introduces a tactile, human element into QUASAR’s open-ended architecture—anchoring its generative nature with moments of deliberate input. Known for its responsiveness and deep integration within modular systems, it serves as a central instrument where gesture and randomness meet, allowing the performer to shape and redirect an ever-evolving sonic landscape.

*All 3 panel Quasar TKB systems come standard with the Gate to Tigger converter installed on the TKB.
